Hello readers, parents, and teachers,
I'm very excited to announce that I'm making study guides for all my books. They're free and fun! I hope they can serve as a good start for branching out into your own discussions and thoughts. Please feel free to download them here, and enjoy.
Great News, Readers!
After publishing more than 30 children's books with Scholastic, Harcourt and Holiday House, I have now ventured into self-publishing with Longhand: One Writer's Journey. In this memoir, I expand my story-telling and love of the written word, using excerpts from letters and journals that have been kept since childhood.
I've jotted a few memories from writing for the Los Angeles Times and also Scholastic, the world's largest children's book publisher: the rejections, heartbreak, joys, and beloved editors. My privileged career has been intertwined with motherhood, the richest adventure of all. The most common question readers ask is, 'Where do you get your ideas?' so herein lie the answers. I hope these behind-the-scenes of book writing might inspire writers starting out and those who love the magic of words.
